Robert J. Hoshizaki, M.D. – Medical Director

Robert J. HoshizakiInternal Medicine Associates, S.C. was co-founded by Robert J. Hoshizaki, M.D. after he completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency training at the prestigious Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

A Chicago native, Dr. Hoshizaki grew up in the northwest suburbs and completed his undergraduate education at Northwestern University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with honors. He then attended medical school at the University of Illinois Abraham Lincoln College of Medicine in Chicago, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society and went on to graduate with highest honors.

Upon completion of his Internal Medicine training, he served as a teaching attending and Instructor at Rush Medical College for two years before relocating his practice to the northwest suburbs and devoting his full efforts to primary care. His meticulous and thorough approach to patient care have earned Dr. Hoshizaki the respect of his patients and peers as a superb clinician and diagnostician.

Dr. Hoshizaki has been extensively involved in the application, refinement and customization of electronic medical records for his practice. His personal interests include traveling with his family, fine dining, and trophy musky fishing when time permits!

 

NEHRU MURATI, M.D.

 

Nehru MuratiWe are very pleased to announce the addition of Nehru Murati, M.D., who will join Internal Medicine Associates on April 1, 2015. Dr. Murati is an experienced, Board Certified Internist who has been practicing at Lutheran General Hospital for the last four years.

 

Dr. Murati earned his medical degree from the Ross University with high honors, and completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency at Loyola affiliated West Suburban Hospital in Chicago.

 

Dr. Murati is interested in all aspects of preventive health care, and has a special interest in cardiovascular and pulmonary disease.

 

He is an avid sports fan and participant who enjoys playing soccer, tennis and basketball. Dr. Murati is married and likes to spend his free time with his three young children.

 

 

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Murati to our practice. He will gladly assume responsibility for Dr. Hoshizaki's patients who chose not to participate in the Concierge Program. We are confident that you will find him to be an excellent physician who looks forward to fulfilling all of  your healthcare needs.

 

 

Debbie L. Weiss, M.D.

 

Debbie L. Weiss

We are very pleased to announce the addition of Debbie L. Weiss, M.D. to Internal Medicine Associates.  Dr. Weiss is an experienced, Board Certified Internist who has been practicing for over 10 years.  Her medical degree was earned at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, and her internship and residency were completed at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Dr. Weiss is keenly interested in preventive medicine through lifestyle modification, and has a special interest in weight loss, diabetes care and patient education.  Her goal is to assist her patients in taking responsibility for their healthcare by providing them with the information, education and direction needed to implement these changes.

Dr. Weiss is also active in the community and volunteers at the Old Irving Park Community Clinic in Chicago. She is married, has three children, is an avid artist (water color, stained glass mosaics, beading jewelry and knitting) and enjoys exercising on a regular basis.

Renee G. Buchnan, PA-C

Renee G. BuchnanRenee G. Buchanan, PA-C joined the staff of Internal Medicine Associates in 2003. She is a Certified Physician Assistant, having received her P.A. degree from Western Michigan University where she graduated Cum Laude. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Renee completed her undergraduate training at the University of Kentucky, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical and Material Science Engineering. She worked for ALCOA and Union Carbide until 1994, when decided to change careers and become a Physician Assistant.

Her responsibilities at Internal Medicine Associates include the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of most acute medical illnesses, as well as the routine follow-up of chronic medical problems such as asthma, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and diabetes. She also has a strong interest in educating patients in preventive health care and health maintenance.

Prior to joining IMA, Renee gained primary care experience by serving as a PA-C at several local Family Practice Clinics. She also worked for three years at Advanced Pain Centers in Hoffman Estates, where she focused on the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute and chronic pain related to a wide spectrum of medical illness.

Renee has a special interest in post-mastectomy lymphedema and vascular disease, having previously served as the Lymphedema Coordinator/ Director at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Compass Healthcare, respectively.

Her personal interests include sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling and nature hikes.
